Settlers to the Smoky Hills of Kansas in the 1870’s and 80’s ingeniously solved the problem of creating fence posts where there were few trees. Utilizing the cap-stone in the surrounding hills they made posts of stone to fence in their livestock (more “Post Rock” history in Links).
Tens of thousands of these posts still stand in “Post Rock country” today. Sisyphus Stone Works personalizes these pieces of history. Each post we gather is naturally broken (to short for fencing) or removed for practical reasons. Four basic sizes are offered with a variety of options to choose from. The four basic sizes are (click-on for galleries & additional info.):
Mini-Post up to 20” in length
Half –Post 20” to 30” in length
Three-quarter-Post 30” to 45” in length
Full-Post 45” to approx. 60”
